Perry Conticchio's jazz trio will start a Sunday evening engagement at Roy's Place in Gaithersburg (7-10pm). The trio becomes a quartet on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend to initiate the 5th annual jazz jam session at Roy's (Sundays, 7-10 pm) which continues through Labor Day weekend--bring your axe and get your jazz chops in shape! The 32nd annual International Saxophone Symposium will be held January 23 and 24, 2009, at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. The event is free and open to the public. The Symposium includes a concert by the US Navy Band and the New Century Saxophone Quartet on Friday night, and a Saturday night concert by the Commodores. The 2009 Conference will open on Wednesday, January 28 and close Saturday, January 31. Events on all four days are free and open to the public. No tickets or reservations are required for the events. There is no registration fee and any tuba or euphonium player is invited to bring his/her horn for reading sessions. Military musicians are invited to perform with the Armed Forces Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble. The Conference will take place at Brucker Hall on historic Fort Myer, Virginia, and at Kenmore Middle School in Arlington, Virginia.
