Dan Abbott (percussionist, who
will hopefully join us again next season) is looking for someone to carpool
to and from the Grovesnor/Strathmore METRO. In his words: "I was ... curious if anyone in the band travels via
metro to work and would like to carpool. I actually drive to the Strathmore stop
but if someone is willing, we could both save on gas/parking." Dan lives in MV and can be reached at: "dan abbott"

[All potato shares are sold and check is on the way to Bangor library.] Marlin Strand is growing Maine Katahdin potatoes in his Gaithersburg garden so that the band can acquire the charts for marches composed by George E. Jennings, a talented Maine composer of small fame but great reputation. Please read Marlin’s newsletter article for the background to this project. You can contribute by reserving shares of Marlin’s potato harvest (The tubers will be available in the Fall, close to our first rehearsal). Marlin estimates that each $10 share will yield 3 lbs of Katahdin potatoes. Contact Marlin to reserve your shares or simply print out and sign a coupon at rehearsal or at one of the upcoming events and hand it to him. |

Dear Montgomery Village Community Band: I thought some of your members might be interested in hearing more about the chamber music concert series at Johns Hopkins campus in Rockville.
The third and final concert in the series is Monday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door.
The June concert will feature Duos with Harp (Jonathan Carney, viola; Marcia Kämper, flute; and Sarah Fuller, harp) playing the music of Takemitsu, Piazzolla and Saint-Saens. I hope some of the band members will be able to join us. Best, Robin ******************** Robin Ferrier Communications Manager Johns Hopkins University Montgomery County 9601 Medical Center Drive Rockville, MD 20850 |

Aileen (Columbia Concert Band) has asked whether any of you took photos at Band Day that you'd like to include on CCB's Band Day webpage. She said they'll try to update their webpage within the next month. Thanks, Jocelyn |
